The book
| The City and the Traffic -A Strategic
Approach is a book which presents a broad view of the
factors that influence urban circulation and an analysis
of transportation systems, showing techniques for
planning the movement of the the general public and goods
in city areas. Here, Brazil’s rich experience in
urban transport is specially highlighted because of the
elevated organization level achieved by this sector
during the last two decades. It was prepared and taken from teaching material belonging to "Urban Transport Planning", a discipline taught by the author in Transportation Planning and Engineering Courses held at The Polytechnic School of the Pernambuco State University from 1988 to 1999. These courses of training were initially sponsored by the Northeast Development Agency (SUDENE), and during the last seven years they have been realized in association with the Brazilian Transportation Planning Enterprise (GEIPOT), a body linked to the Ministry of Transport. |
